Have you started your spring cleaning and de-cluttering regimen yet? Out with the old to make room for the new, as I like to call it.

Here are a few spring cleaning tips to de-clutter and organize your home whether you are putting it on the market or just want to feel fresh and renewed for spring.

Spring cleaning is a big deal for many people. It helps de-clutter after the big holiday season, it reduces unnecessary belongings, frees up valuable real estate and make a space feel good.

Everyone has their own way of cleaning but the best way is to start at the top (may that be your attic or the top of a bookcase) and work your way down. Go through each room dusting and organizing items. Look at each room and evaluate if the room is serving its purpose or is it multi-functional. Make a list for each room putting things into 4 categories (trash, donate, return, need). If you are looking to put your home on the market now is the best time to get organized by eliminating items like paper files, old clothes from the closet, old furniture or broken items. Define each room, an office, bedroom, dining room, it’s never a good idea to have a buyer walk in and say “what is this room?” or “why is this in here?”

When you’re looking to get organized think about storage and how to maximize space. We all need a little more space here and there. Here are a few things you can do to get organized and decorate at the same time.

*The drawer of photos you keep putting off, start hanging them up or put them in a decorative box for display.

*The piles of paper, look at getting a nice file cabinet that won’t be an eye sore in the room or even decorative baskets stacked up look much nicer.

*Hang those plates on the wall with plate holders.

*Organize jars or personal items on a tray in the bathroom

*If you’re not into using bleach or heavy solvents like me try using (fresh lemon juice, water and backing soda or white vinegar) these ingredients will clean anything and leave a fresh scent behind too.

Have fun with it, use this time to recall great moments while you pack them up to make room for new one.
